A. People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blog and replace any question that they dislike with a new, original question.
B. Tag eight people (SEE BELOW!). Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag the person who tagged you.
1. Do you like your name? If you could change it, what would your name be?
I like my name better today than I did when I was younger, because I now realize how well it suits me. At one time, I flirted with changing my name to my middle name, Melinda. I tried that at camp one year, and it didn't take. My name in college French class was Melanie, which I liked quite a bit.
2. How do you style your hair?
Usually, I just work a little gel through it and let it dry naturally. On weekends or when I'm trying to look more polished, I put a little straightener in it and dry it with a hairdryer, using a round brush. That's about all I'm capable of doing.
3. What's new in your life right now?
For the first time ever, I'm taking some actual responsibility at Otakon, serving as the head of press relations.
4. How many colors are you wearing right now?
Three: sky blue, aqua and yellow.
5. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
When I first took the Myers-Briggs Personality Test, I tested as an introvert. The last time I took it, I was an extrovert. I believe this comes from deliberately imitating extroverted behaviors. Over time, it's become less of an act.
6. What was the last book you read?
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. I'm currently reading Christopher Moore's Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal.
7. Do you daydream a lot?
Yes and no. My mind often races several steps ahead, planning what I should be doing next. Sometimes, I just stare into space and pet my cat or my dog.
8. What's the weather like now?
In suburban Philadelphia, it's been bitter cold the last couple days, so that I have to bundle up when I walk my doggie. While the ground is frozen, the skies are clear, so there's no snow.
9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy recently?
Unhappy, perhaps not. Frustrated, yes. I woke up a couple days ago to discover the TV didn't work. Turns out we needed a digital converter, now that all the channels are being broadcast in digital. So I picked up the converters and hooked them up, only to learn that the new configuration makes it impossible to record shows on the VCR while my husband watches other shows. We're now going to get a DVR.
10. Where was the most memorable meal you ever had?
Probably Morimoto in Philadelphia, where my husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary.
11. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
Less than half an hour on a typical weekday, about 45 minutes on the weekend. On weekdays, I just throw on clothes, eat breakfast, and then walk the dog. I wait until after I work out to shower. On weekends, I shower, then put on makeup and all.
12. What Web sites do you visit daily?
Google (News, Search, Images, Gmail); MSN.com (Hotmail); Yahoo.com (Yahoo! mail); WeightWatchers.com; my work server (to access audio and video files to transcribe); LiveJournal.com; MySpace.com.
13. What classes are you taking right now? If not in school, what's your profession?
No classes, but I've taken bellydancing and improv classes in recent years. I'm looking for a place to take hula classes. As far as my profession, I'm a writer and editor, but most of my money comes from transcription work.
14. Do you like to clean?
The task itself is often tedious and back-breaking, but sometimes there's a meditative quality to it. And I do like the results of cleaning.
15. What's the last song stuck in your head?
As soon as I read this, I heard "I'm Just a Girl" by No Doubt.
16. What's the last movie you saw?
The Band's Visit, a quietly charming Israeli movie.
17. What hobby would you take up if money, time and ability were no obstacles?
I'd pick up the guitar again. Money, time and ability are not obstacles, but I do need to have someone help me put new strings on it.
18. What color do you look best in?
I'm partial to cool colors like blues, greens, and deep purple. Red also looks good on me. I avoid most pastels because they washe me out, with my pale skin.
19. What places do you wish to visit in 2009?
I would really like my husband, toanstation, and I to take a weekend trip somewhere within driving distance this summer. I don't particulary care where.
20. What are you most looking forward to in the next month?
Finishing the winter issue of Wild Violet so I can move on to other projects.
OK, I tag baxaphobia, jenandbronze, cousinsue, theafaye, kathrynrose, ladyivy, singewulf, and toanstation.
Anyone else who wants to participate is welcome to, as well.
