Eye Level

My final day in Central Pennsylvania was only a half day. Monday I had my annual eye appointment at my ophthalmologist, whom I've kept even since moving. Since I didn't have to have my eyes dilated this year, I didn't have to find a driver. Everything went well. The doctor said everything looks good.

I got back early enough to work on Wild Violet, primarily focusing on the Essays section.

Dad got back from a morning appointment at about 10, so together we took Una for one last walk around the town. Dad really loves to walk Una. It's one of the things he looks forward to when I visit. Una loves her grandpa, too.

Camera-Phone Diet - Wednesday, June 24

Until I reach my goal of losing 15 pounds (which will put me where I was on my wedding day), I'm doing something called the "Camera-Phone Diet," where you photograph everything you eat. I had a pretty ordinary Wednesday.

Since people asked about my progress, here's how it's gone. The first month, I lost 5 pounds. But then, sadly, I bounced back up 3 pounds (some of which I believe was muscle). For three weeks, I hit a plateau, and this week, after increasing exercise, I lost 1.2 pounds. So while the net loss is only 3 pounds to date, I feel like I'm in better shape.

Here's what I ate:

Wednesday, June 24 - Breakfast  Wednesday, June 24 - Muscle Milk  Wednesday, June 24 - Lunch  Wednesday, June 24 - Dinner  Wednesday, June 24 - English Muffin  Wednesday, June 24 - Coffee  Wednesday, June 24 - Evening Snack

RIP Michael Jackson

I was just shocked when I heard the news, although Michael has been looking more and more frail. He was my first celebrity crush, and I wrote a lot about him in recent years. You can find links to them all here.

I hope that, in the next world, he finds some peace.
