How 9/11 Changed Me

I wrote this piece as response to a Yahoo! assignment. They wanted to know how people's lives were changed by 9/11.

How 9/11 Saved Me from a Bad Job

Saved me from a crappy job, too.

Though, I think being in this play had helped me focus the perspective.

Interesting piece. I wonder how many other people said to themselves, "You know what? The money just isn't worth it any more. I've got to do what I love."

Sometimes I think I could have made more of the intervening 10 years, but the truth is, I've written a lot of things I might not have written if I'd been tied to a desk job.

I'm always inspired by the way you continue to pursue acting opportunities, both big and small. It's the sort of thing I'd like to do more of with my writing.

I think you write a hell of a lot! It's seems like every time I hit my friends page you've got a link to another published piece.

I still remember reading your piece about the first improv class, how you described each of us in a unique, journalistic and somewhat objective way. We had only just met, and I was really intrigued by your perspective. Rarely do you meet someone and get to know what they see as that first impression.

And thanks. I'm glad you find it inspiring. Though most days, I just think I'm too lazy to be doing a desk job. It's not so much the desk and the computer work, but the stress, the cubicles and the endless unproductive meetings I couldn't stand.

Though I must say there isn't a part of me that wished I did it sooner. My experiences up to this point got me here, and here is pretty darn good!

I do write a lot, but not nearly as much as I'd like. :)

In many ways, I feel the same about the path that took me to this point. I hugged my little Kung Fu Panda the other night and told him, "I'd do it all again if it meant you would be my son."
