Photo to Inspire Me?

Last weekend, I began a "Playwriting Through Improvisation" class. It's a six-week course through which we'll generate a short piece to share with friends and family. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to write more about it over the next few days, but right now, I'm hard at work following up on things for the upcoming Wild Violet 10th Anniversary Event.

My homework assignment for this week is to find a picture of a person that intrigues me. From that, I'm supposed to fill out a character sheet with questions about that person. In class, we'll then work on a monologue.

Anyone have any photos to recommend? They could be of anyone, but preferably it would be of someone I don't know.

That is wonderful.

The picture is one of the shots taken by Albert Ortega of my good friend and character actor Camden Toy. He, much like Doug Jones, does a lot of creature work. He was one of the Gentlemen (along with Doug) on the "Buffy" episode "Hush" (the silent one? Yeah). He was also the Prince of Lies on "Angel" (episode "Why We Fight") and the Gnarl once again on "Buffy" ("Same Time, Same Place"). Is it okay if I share the link to your entry with him? Would love to let him know what his picture inspired.

Let me know.

Please do! He has such an expressive face. In that particular shot, I got a sense of somebody who was very intense but also very guarded. Somebody who was strong, smart and probably good with his hands. Hmm. Wonder how much that's true about him, as a person!

Tell him, too, that I loved his work on "Buffy." That was one of their scariest episodes ever.

I did, and her story is, indeed, a compelling one. Thanks for sharing that.

Here's one. Like the other commenter, if you choose her and use her, I'll tell you after the assignment about her and her life. :)

Great shot! This is going to be a hard choice. I may end up doing more than one, just to see what comes of it, and present the one I like best at class.
